Like sought-after handbags, every so often the design world has a buzzed-about It item of its own, and never are those goods more desirable than when there's an intersection with the fashion world. Hence the increasing levels of excitement surrounding Farfelus Farfadets, a charming collection of papier-mache sculptures that French couple Anne Freisz and Laurant Poumarat have been designing since 1996. Displaying the handmade works of art, which are available at Bergdorf Goodman in New York City and mostly take the form of animals but also the odd musical instrument, has become a rite of passage of sorts for Paris' chicest shops: the sculptures have appeared in the store windows of Christian Lacroix, Chopard, Yves Saint Laurent and Le Bon Marche.
