SWINGING INTO TENNIS
As part of his partnership with the U.S. Tennis Association, Ralph Lauren will be serving up an exclusive line of tennis gear, including polo shirts with the signature polo player in larger proportions and balls adorned with pink ponies. Sales from the balls will benefit breast- cancer research.
CHANNELING BARDOT
Get ready for big hair. On Dolce & Gabbana's fall runway, actress Chloe Sevigny pumped up the volume Brigitte Bardot--style. Mere mortals can achieve a similar look with new volumizing products like Charles Worthington's Big Hair Thick Quick Spray Gel ($5.99). "It's not about a beehive," says Worthington spokesman Tim Rogers.
PRECIOUS PEARLS CAN BE HAD FOR LESS--ON THE INTERNET
Every woman should own a strand of pearls, especially now that they're affordable. PurePearls.com is part of a growing crop of Internet-based wholesalers selling Fifth Avenue--quality freshwater and cultured pearls at eBay prices. Run by Amanda Raab, 25, the site also teaches consumers about the different types of pearls and how they're farmed and graded. Prices start at $27 for freshwater-pearl earrings and go up to $16,400 for a South Sea pearl necklace. Every piece comes with a certified GIA appraisal and a 90-day return policy. --By Betsy Kroll
