Q+A Keri Russell
By Barbara Kiviat
Keri Russell saddles up for Into the West, a six-week mini-series starting June 10 on TNT.
Conestoga or horse? Are you kidding me? Horse. Between takes, you can turn him around, go to the [food] table, eat a doughnut. Anytime we had a break in shooting, I was sneaking off to ride horses.
When Felicity ended in 2002, you took time off. What did you do? I moved to New York with a suitcase of clothes and a few boxes of books. I lived in my empty apartment and hung out with girlfriends and went dancing and walked home at 2 in the morning in the snow. You know, I'd never done any of that stuff because I'd been working. I acted like a teenager, and it saved me.
What do you do to get your hair to look so good? I'm big on the 1950s hot rollers. People are always making fun. I was just staying in California with friends, and I was the source of a lot of jokes.
Got any Hollywood gossip? You're asking the wrong girl. I'm the most boring girl around, thank God. I'd rather not have photographers chasing me. That would be such a drag. Like, who wants to wear a different outfit every day? I'm working on the same outfit for the last four days.
Does this outfit involve jeans? Jeans and a T shirt. I mean, who can be bothered looking pretty? Who has time to plan out an outfit every day?
You're really normal for an actress. Not a lot of my friends are actors. Maybe that helps.
If you could live in another time period, which would it be? I really like right now. I enjoy a nice car ride every now and then. My latte.
