Sleepy Hearts

Heart disease is as big a killer of women as it is of men, but it doesn't strike them the same way. Men often complain of chest pain during a heart attack, for example, but many women experience no chest pain whatsoever. What they do experience are sleeping problems. In a survey of 515 female heart-attack survivors published in the journal Circulation, 70% reported unusual fatigue a month before their attack and 48% said they had been having trouble sleeping. At least 1 in 3 also experienced indigestion, anxiety or shortness of breath. --S.S.
