By Melissa August, Ann Marie Bonardi, Val Castronovo, Matthew Cooper, Daren Fonda, Benjamin Nugent, Julie Rawe, Victoria Rainert
Alas, you have already missed the 33rd Annual Forum on Moving, organized by the folks at Atlas Van Lines. It wrapped in April with a talk by keynote speaker Bob Woodward. And the Second World Dracula Congress, in Poiana Brasov, Romania, finished up last week. But the parties are far from over. This summer there's a conference for everyone.
May 28-June 4: European Tall Convention; in Luxembourg. Members of European tall-persons' clubs discuss design standards and problems affecting the vertically endowed.
June 3-4: The World Millennium Convention of the Budgerigar Society; in Eastbourne, England. Bird lovers pay tribute to the chirpy little parakeet.
June 22-25: The 21st annual Rocky Mountain UFO conference; at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. Individuals who have made contact with UFOs and/or extraterrestrials share their experiences; X-Files references preferred.
July 22-29: The 14th International Thomas Hardy Conference; in Dorchester, England. The program promises readings, lectures, evensong and nice long walks.
July 28-30: The Eighth Annual Def Con Conference for hackers; in Las Vegas. Matters legal and technical will be discussed.
Aug. 1-6: National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance Convention 2000; in San Diego, Calif. Topics include health and social activism; Yoga for People of Size optional.
