"Age Cannot Wither . . ."
In healthy married couples, old age alone is no bar to enjoyment of sexual relations. Duke University Psychiatrist E. Gustave Newman reported last week to the Gerontological Society. From a study of 149 couples aged 60 to 93, the Newman research team found that 70% continued to have sexual relations up to age 70 -- and some of them into their late 80s. The frequency showed a wide range, from four or five times a year to three times a week, with higher frequencies in the lower socio-economic classes. Main reason for discontinuance of marital relations: ill health.
