Dow's Debut
Dow Chemical Co. last week joined the select group of U.S. companies entrusted with atomic-energy work.* The Atomic Energy Commission announced plans for a $45 million plant near Denver, to be built by Cleveland's Austin Co. and operated by Dow. When completed next year, the new plant will employ 1,000 people under the supervision of AEC's Santa Fe branch. The AEC said the Denver plant would not produce bombs or atomic weapons "as such." Presumably, it will take on experimental projects in connection with those handled by Los Alamos.
