Remembrance & Friendship
Mrs. Leslie Coffelt, widow of the Blair House guard killed in the attempted assassination of President Truman by Puerto Rican Nationalists last November, flew to Puerto Rico last week. There she received from the hand of Governor Luis Munoz Marin a medal and a gift of $4,816.59, made up of pennies given by Puerto Rican schoolchildren. Said Mrs. Coffelt: "I, like any other American, cannot hate a country for an act committed by one of its citizens. I shall always remember the kindness shown to me by the Puerto Rican people."
