Pleased Pan American
Frustrated in the Pacific for two months by a parcel of pesky troubles, Pan American Airways last week was pleased to see its famed Clippers again making good news on three separate fronts:
P:The China Clipper buzzed blithely into Manila for the second time. At Wake Island, on the return trip, it landed beside its sister, the Philippine Clipper, outward bound on its second trip to Manila. It was the first time two Clippers had met in transpacific service.
P:South American business men took note of an announcement from U. S. postal officials that the Clipper schedule between Miami and Buenos Aires will be reduced this spring from 5 1/2 to 4 1/2 days.
P:Pan American renewed its concession from Denmark to make tests in Greenland for a possible transatlantic route via Iceland. Simultaneously, Danish Airways Co. and Norwegian Airways Co. disclosed they were separately preparing to assist Pan American in trial flights from Iceland to Europe this summer.
