Since then newspaper and magazine advertising pages have been smeared with warnings of strange afflictions discovered by copywriters. Last week Printers' Ink counted up 93, of which 63 directly concern the human body. Nineteen afflict the skin, 13 concern the oral cavity, eight visit the digestive tract. Counting five bad-breath plagues included in the oral category, twelve have to do with nasty smells.

In the last five months, Printers' Ink observed, a rash of 26 new epidemics broke into advertising. The newest ones:
