In North Carolina

Small tremors in the South last week continued to mark the aftermath of the great financial disturbance caused by the failure of Caldwell & Co. (TIME, Nov. 24). Bank closings since the first Caldwell trouble were up to 238 according to the American Banker last week. Of these 34 have reopened. A notable closing last week was First National Bank of Charlotte. N. C., founded in 1869, oldest national bank in the state.
