Swift Camera

At the meeting of the Society of Automotive Engineers at Detroit, C. Francis Jenkins of Washington displayed his "chronoteine [time stretching] camera." It consists of a 13-in. disc holding on its periphery 48 lenses. As the lenses revolve a photographic film moves back of the disc. Normal exposures are 3,200 a second, possible exposures 10,000 a second. (The ordinary cinema camera takes 16 views a second.) Utility: Resolving for leisurely observation the details of swift moving machinery, gun fire, water flow.
