Restraint

Student liberty to do as students please was denied in three universities last week. The cases:

War. Professional Pacifist Kirby Page was refused permission to lecture at Oregon State Agricultural College.

Knees. "All co-eds must wear bloomers reaching to the tops of their hose at all times," decreed Dean Agnes Ermina Wells, Indiana University. It all started when a pretty co-ed crossed her legs in the library. An admiring student wrote a note, mentioned knees, asked for date.

Picketing. Nineteen members of the Yale Liberal Club were arrested by the New Haven police for distributing union literature (which the Yale News described as "a dignified appeal to the intelligence of the community"), during a neckwear workers' strike. The Harvard Liberal Club commended their Yale brethren.
