Insanity

Last year the Federal Census Bureau conducted the first comprehensive study ever made of the prevalence of insanity in the U. S. From the data thus obtained, the National Committee for Mental Hygiene prepared a report which, published last week, showed:

1) That patients are entering institutions for the insane faster than they are leaving them, which was taken to indicate, not an increase in mental diseases, but decreased reluctance on the part of patients to admit their ailments and receive early treatment.

2) That modern psychology and medical science have already greatly reduced mental disorder though "as a matter of fact, we are hardly using the invaluable and not inconsiderable new knowledge."
