In Massachusetts a primary was held in the 2nd Congressional district, (President Coolidge's home) because of the death of the late Representative Churchill. Henry L. Bowles of Springfield, friend of Mr.

Coolidge, ran against William H. Feiker, six times mayor of Northampton. Bowles won by a small margin.
