Wembley II
In an open carriage the King and Queen, accompanied by Prince Henry, drove from Buckingham Palace to Wembley Park, attended by the four Indian orderly officers. Hundreds of thousands of people lined the roads, cheering madly.
Seated upon a golden dais, surrounded by brilliantly uniformed troops, uniformed Cabinet Ministers, representatives from every part of the Commonwealth, Privy Councillors, high ecclesiastics, Ambassadors and Ministers, Their Majesties listened to the Duke of York's speech in which, as Chairman, he asked the King to open the second Wembley Exhibition.
The King afterward declared the Exhibition open, which declaration was immediately followed by a fanfare of trumpets, a royal salute from artillery, an airplane salute from above and the unfurling of the flag of the Commonwealth.
