Eastman Seven

To encourage young U. S. composers, the Eastman School of Music at Rochester, N. Y., offered to present a series of programs of manuscript orchestral works by such strivers. Last week, the first of these concerts was given. The seven, the youngest 25, the oldest 35, were composers Tweedy, Weiss, Silver, Copland, Rogers, 'Porter, McKay. There were four compositions of merit. Best was the imaginative, polytonal Cortege Macabre of Composer ('opland.
