In Kansas, William Allen White, who stood up on an anti-Klan flivver and matched himself against both Republican and Democratic candidates for Governor, ran third in the tri-partite race. Said he afterwards of the odd tens of thousands of people who sup. ported him: "They are good people. They deserved a better candidate."
