In the first eight months of 1923 the number of passenger cars produced in the U. S. was greater than the number produced for the entire year of either 1921 or 1922. Department of Commerce figures: 1923 (eight months ended Aug. 31 --Passenger cars, 2,431,063: trucks, 258,771. 1922 (entire year)--Passenger cars, 2,339,414; trucks, 244,882. 1921 (entire year)--Passenger cars 1,535,196; trucks, 147,168.
